He and his wife, Betsy have four sons and a granddaughter. “I really enjoy working with the British students and watching them grow personally and professionally during their internship at the Old Toad. We always hope that their experience in Rochester will make a positive difference in their lives”.

Betsy Roman
I am John’s wife and sometimes known as the “Toadies Rochester Mama”. Even though my sons are grown, I still have that maternal instinct when it comes to our British student staff. To us, they are much more than employees; they are our family. I enjoy being a Grandma, do some volunteering at our church, and love to cook.. Every year I introduce our students to Thanksgiving with a traditional dinner. It’s exciting having the new students come in every year, but, I always shed tears when they leave.
